From risk assessment to safety and warning notices

Abstract
Every manufacturer of a product needs a risk assessment. Otherwise, a safe product is inconceivable. Risk assessment and risk reduction require a systematic and iterative approach in a suitable team. Finally, clear, understandable, and intelligible instructions and safety information must be given about any remaining risks. For this purpose, standards have defined various types of safety-related information. Errors in the development of this information contribute significantly to the liability risks of a product manufacturer. Nevertheless, in practice, too little importance is often given to how to combine risk assessment and technical writing properly.
In this presentation, we will therefore discuss the following topics:
• Obligation and methodology of risk assessment
• Types of safety-related information
• Interplay between risk assessment and technical writing
