Products must be designed for technical safety. If risk cannot be avoided by design, suitable safeguards must be included. The information for use of the product must inform users about these safeguards and any residual risks by means of safety-related information such as safety notes and warning messages, but also by means of product safety labels; users must be instructed on how to avoid potential harm. To allow creating effective safety notes and warning messages, the responsible technical communicators must be able to understand the risk assessment and draw the correct conclusions for the design of the information for use.
