Understanding the Psychology of Design: A Cognitive Approach to Usability
We continually perform different mental processes when using objects – everything from coffee cups to web interfaces. These psychological dynamics affect the expectations we have for usability – particularly for what items are, what they do, and how to use them effectively. The better we understand these processes, the more effectively we can design materials – from apps to mobile devices to documentation – audiences can use effectively.
