Manage Documentation for Software Development in Agile Environment with Remote and Distributed teams

Monica Chis

Abstract

Agile development was originally imagined for clustered teams, or teams physically located together in the same office. Nowadays, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have realized that we need a lot of flexibility in our work.  It seems that Agile method of management makes it easier to remain flexible. We have remote teams and distributed teams. Most businesses have a few–or several–distributed teams.
The main characteristics of remote teams are: they are highly dynamic; they don’t have a physical office, remote employees work from wherever they are, usually a home office or a co-working space.  Distributed teams involve a hybrid approach of both onsite and remote workers. This combined model uses an onsite team at a physical office somewhere in the world, as well as remote workers in their home offices. With remote and distributed teams we have to stay focus on delivering value to the customer. In terms of documentation required for software development we have to produce and maintained documentation that adds value to the customer. In order to avoid wasting time, documentation in agile should occur only when it is necessary.
