The first commercial steps of translation memory systems began in the mid-eighties itself. But in the last four years or so, this technology has gained in popularity. Currently, there are four leaders in the market for translation memory systems, namely, Trados, Transit, Déjà Vu and SDLX. What are their important characteristics, and how is their performance in actual translation work? We present to you the results of a comparative study.
