Nutzer- und kulturspezifische Informationsaufbereitung versus Wirtschaftlichkeit

Technische Redakteure in der Klemme

Frank Thissen, Silke Wagener

Stronger user orientation, focusing on the essentials, a wider usage of pictures and better structuring, these are some of the requirements when it comes to operating instructions. However is it possible at all to provide a single documentation in different languages for the entire global market, keeping in mind the different strategies of the manufacturers? Can safety instructions be understood clearly by different cultures? Michael Schilling and Geralf Gnauck debated these and many other questions strictly from the reinisch AG, and decided to study them in collaboration with the University for Media Studies in a project led by Prof. Dr. Frank Thissen. This lecture should provide one with the main findings of the Project “Electro instruments - short operating instructions for world-wide distribution” of the study course “Information design” at the University for Media Studies in Stuttgart. This project was conducted in autumn/winter 2003 in collaboration with the reinisch AG, Stuttgart branch.
