Collaborative terminology work - technical communication without barriers

The long-awaited breakthrough in seamless global cooperation in terminology appears to have advanced by one more decisive step, with the availability of more mature web technologies. Internal approval processes that extend across the entire company, and involving even those people in charge of terminology, are no longer hindered by the technological hurdles which seemed a real problem just a few years ago. Does this mean that the meticulous exchange of terminology data, tedious updating of entries in technical dictionaries and the error-prone management of several glossary versions are now a thing of the past? Has the terminology wonderland that we only dared dream about so far, now become a reality in the day-to-day work of technical communication?
