Localization and translation into Chinese
Writing for the large market
Thorsten Kahlich
English is doubtless the language of the world. However, the greatest number people in the world communicate using a different language: Chinese. According to estimates, 90 percent of the approximately 1.3 billion inhabitants of the People’s Republic of China speak Chinese, either in its classical form or in one of its various dialects. Add to this the populations of Taiwan, Singapore and the large number of Chinese abroad. The remaining 10 percent are distributed among the ethnic language groups such as Mongolian, Uiguren or Tibetan.
