Usability of Technical Documentation
Test-it before you trust-it
Hans Krings
Basically testing Technical Documentation is like going to a dentist. All of us know that it is in our best interest to get dental check-ups done at regular intervals, but in practice only the very conscientious among us do it. Others go on dillydallying with it for as long as they can, till something starts really hurting. And in regard to documentation, the painful realization may happen, in most cases, only when an important client, a testing or certifying authority reveals (what one has been apprehensive about but, due to lack of time or courage, never did some introspection) that more is amiss than one had thought.
